What do you need to make it through an earthquake? The children are going to find out when we test their handmade constructions against one of the most powerful events on the planet. Will their buildings be strong enough to take the strain?

As you might have guessed, we’re harnessing the Forces of Nature this week at After School Club. Each day sees us learn about the impact they can have on our world and what we might do to overcome them. Can the children’s boats conquer mini tidal waves, for instance?

How do you create swans, dinosaurs, windows onto another world and incredible flying machines in under five minutes? The answer’s simple – paper! You can do practically anything with it, so we’re celebrating the humble sheet this week with Enrichments stuffed with origami and doodling.

As well as decorating and folding it into all sorts of shapes (the sky’s the limit, really), the children will also be donning their scientist coats to figure out which kind of paper is the strongest. We’ll use it to make our own props, too. We can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Ah, that’s better – relax and enjoy the sun, sand, and sea as we jet off to the Bahamas this week. Unfortunately it’s just in our imaginations, but there’s a lot of fun to be had even so! Why not take a break with us?

We’re setting ourselves up for a tropical few days by crafting 3D sunglasses of our own. After we’re all kitted up, we’ll make a beach collage (which will use real sand) and decipher a mysterious treasure map. Where will it lead, and what waits for us at the end of the trail…?
