It’s something we all tell children: no matter whether it’s a classroom, home or even their desk, we’ve got to take care of what we have. That goes for the planet, too. As a result, our theme this week is the environment and how best to look after it.

Because of this, ‘reuse, recycle and reduce’ are three important words for the next five days. Every activity is based on keeping our world healthy. We’re starting by learning what the recycling symbols mean, followed by everyone creating a junk robot. Then we’re nurturing green fingers by planting in pots, followed with healthy eating and traffic detectives that’ll try to work out how much pollution different vehicles produce.

As for our FUN Food Snack, we’ll be munching on fruit and using any leftovers on the compost pile (not to mention learning what compost is for). Similarly, water that isn’t drunk will feed the plants we’re potting! Have a great week.

The FUNdays Club Team

Did anyone else like to imagine how it’d feel to brave the wilderness as a child? Working out where you’d make camp, what to eat and the kind of trouble you’d be forced to wriggle out of makes for a cracking daydream. With that in mind, this week takes its inspiration from one of the best known survivors out there: Bear Grylls.

As you can probably tell, our activities are all about conquering the great outdoors. Tuesday will see the children crafting their own lamps to light the way, for example. Then we’re putting their observational skills to the test with a bug/scavenger hunt. Last but not least is a session learning the most essential of Scout skills – how to tie knots. Oh, and we’ll be spending as much time as possible with the outdoor play equipment on Friday!

Yours,

The FUNdays Club Team
